Google Backup, to the rescue!

So, my host had some hard drive problems and happened to loose the primary partition on one of the hard drives on the server that this site is hosted on. When i talked to them they said they had to restore around 500 domains and 350 accounts from this one server alone, that would suck. Anyway, I didn’t t lose anything other then my last couple blog entries that I didn’t have backed up, so i was fortunate, but still disappointed. So i decided to check and see if Google just happened to have a cache of my site from very recent, and sure enough they did! Now thanks to Google i have recovered all but one post. Thanks Google!

Losing Customers 101

Today at college I learned a great business skill, how to lose paying customers, and I didn’t even have to step a foot into a classroom. Evidently my car was parked in a unauthorized parking zone so my landlord took the liberty of letting me know, not by calling me or warning me like a sensible business would do, but by pasting a huge “You screwed up” sticker on my car window. Now when I say sticker I mean it, it’s no wimpy window cling that will come off easily but it was probably engineered to be the most annoying sticker possible. So I called the police to file some sort of damage report and they were like “we are the Vermillion PD, we don’t actually do anything.” So I called my landlord and he was a complete jerk and compared me parking there to people jumping off bridges. GRR, In all I learned that I will be living in a different place next year because evidently they don’t care if they get money. Anyway, here are some pictures. Stereotypical catch up post

Alright. There comes a time in every bloggers life where they forget about their blog for a while then one day half a year later they decide to take it up again and write a post about where they have been, this is that post.

Since last may when school ended I transferred to a new school (USD), joined a fraternity (Phi Delta Theta), and started working at the campus newspaper as a photographer. That’s about it, though today my lens (Canon 28-138mm IS USM) died and it’s on its way to Canon for repair. I’ve never dropped/abused/punted it across the room, but metal parts literally started falling out of the inside. GRRR, hopefully I get it back soon.

I also managed to launch W3photo.com, so check it out. I also plan on posting more photos here. Stay tuned for the next update.

Skype!

If you’ve been browsing under a rock for the past few months and haven’t heard about Skype yet, its time to be enlightened. Skype is a FREE “voice chat” like service, but unlike every other similar services it actually works. You can talk to people all over the world absolutely free, or if you find land lines intriguing, for a small fee you can place calls to them. Skype has been getting a lot of publicity via the Podcast community, and for good reasons. With Skype you can call into shows and ask questions or even record your own podcasts with your friends across the country. I highly recommend downloading this program and after you do, feel to add w3designer to your friends list.
